Gallery Announces New Fundraising Event – Architectural Spaces: The Home Tour 2007April 19th, 2007No Comments
The Kamloops Art Gallery is delighted to announce its newest fundraising event—Architectural Spaces: The Home Tour 2007. This event gives patrons an opportunity to tour through four architecturally impressive homes throughout Kamloops during this one day event on Saturday, May 5, 2007. Patrons can choose from two tour times, either 12:30 to 4:00 pm or 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
The Gallery decided to organize the event because it realized that the public has a great appetite for wonderful architecture, and an event that focuses on architecture fits into the Gallery’s mandate of promoting great art. Architecture is, after all, a form of art. The idea for a building is created in someone’s mind and realized by several craftspeople, all using their talents, and culminating in the finished structure. This event hopes to create a new appreciation for this type of creative art form.
These types of home tours have become very popular throughout the country and the Gallery is hoping to capitalize on this popularity. The event is a fundraiser, and all monies raised will help the Gallery fund its many and varied programs. The Gallery is always looking for innovative ways to raise self-generated income, and strives to be as self sufficient as possible.
Home owners have proven to be great allies in these types of events, since many are delighted to showcase their homes—what some describe as their ‘pride and joy’. The houses are located in four areas of Kamloops: Batchelor Heights, Westsyde, Valleyview and the new Tobiano (at Six Mile Ranch).
Not only will event-goers be able to look inside and outside of the houses and all around the grounds, but patrons will be treated to seeing special patio-makeovers at each house. The Gallery has partnered with selected local retailers and designers to coordinate this patio project.
